Message from Judson
Thanks to all of you who have emailed me in the last few weeks. It is such a wonderful thing to have so many people say, "thank you" and, of course, all of the other dance ideas that may have gotten left out! There are so many emails to answer that I don't think I can get to them all. I am sorry if you received a "generic" email with the site but I wanted to make sure I answered all of your questions. Thanks for your emails and if your question is not answered below, email me at the link at the bottom and I will do my best to get back with you quickly!
What is an "Inspirational Comedian?"
Imagine blending Robin Williams with Anthony Robbins or that really funny person you know with that teacher who taught you so much about life. That is what "Inspirational Comedy" is. It is the thought that someone can be so funny that you might catch them on Comedy Central, Letterman, or the Tonight Show, but also wise enough to give you pause for thought and open your eyes to the world around you.
Is It Religious?
Not exactly. While I have no ties to any particular religion or belief I would be lying if I said there was no spiritual influence to my concepts. I make no specific references to any religion nor do I try to persuade my listeners to any one belief over the other. Inspiration is just a word that makes sure that people know if will be more than just comedy.
What is Your Inspiration?
Inspiration comes in many forms. I have found that to try and finger any type of inspiration one way or the other would be foolish. I have had many teachers over the years both in the physical form and in other forms. I have learned lessons through my own experience and I have learned lessons from watching others. I have read, conversed, listened, laughed, observed, gathered, and much more.
How Did You Come Up With The Idea?
I came up with name to help describe what I do. I wanted people to know that I was going to try and be funny but also give them things to think about and try to inspire them all in the same experience.
Do You Tour?
I currently do not have "tour". Groups hire me: high schools, corporations, conferences, colleges, organizations, and various others. Sometimes these events are private and closed and other times they are open to the public. There may be a time when I tour in a traditional "tour" type style but as for now my schedule is full with speaking and performing dates. I will work on getting that schedule up on my site that is being developed and then we will see about future shows in other venues.
Is There Anywhere I Can Download a Copy of the Dance to Have on My Own Computer or Ipod?
Not yet - we have to wait until we get the rights to the songs first. Please read on and you will understand. We hope to be able to!
Can I get an mp3, CD or the audio to the Dance?
As of now I am afraid I cannot sell that to you. I am currently working on securing the rights to the songs so that I can sell the DVD with the dance on it. It is long and expensive process. In buying those rights I still would not have the right to sell the CD mix them on it. I hope to in the future do just that but in all reality it might be too expensive to do it. The price for that one song would end up being around $10 for just the one song!
When will the DVD be available?
In order to sell a DVD of a full show including the dance, I have to get the rights to all of the songs in the dance or it is illegal and I do not want to do anything illegal. We are working on it as you read this and my hope is that it will only take 2 months or so (30 songs is more than 3 major motion pictures use). So please be patient! You can go here to send us an email to be notified when the DVD comes out and we will email everyone who sent an email asking about it. We are working to get it out as soon as possible!
Can We Do the Dance for a Talent Show? Wedding? Other Event?
Have at it - I told you that I couldn't give out the mix as of yet so you'll have to mix your own. There are hundreds of programs out there that will allow you to mix audio tracks together. Have fun and good luck!
How Did You Come Up With The Idea For The Dance?
I would like to tell you that I was having a dream and a vision where, upon waking, I knew that I just had to do it! Alas, it was not quite that dramatic but still effective none-the-less. I started working on becoming a speaker in the year 2000. I started out by doing some programs that someone else had created to help get my feet wet and learn the ropes. I knew I wanted to create my own programs but also that this would be valuable experience. As I began to develop my own style and content I got a great piece of advice from a mentor who told me that I needed to come up with something that was unique and different. Something that no one else did and could become my calling card to help people remember my messages and me.
I had already begun to explore the understanding that life is change. I felt that this was a first step to creating the life you want by understanding the simple idea that life is change. So I wanted to do something to make sure that message stuck in the minds of my audience. I milled this over in my head for about 6-9 months when I was finally hit with the idea of how much dancing had changed. I began to think about how funny it would be to visually see all of the dances and thus the idea was born. I quickly wrote down the first several that came to mind, 12 to be exact - and listed them out. I still have that piece of paper to this day.
Since then the dance itself has evolved and changed. Some songs have been added and the taken away while others have remained. I am more than sure it will continue to change and perhaps get longer (not too much - I won't be able to take it!)
Will You Be Doing a Second Dance?
I am working on another dance - "The Evolution of Dance Revisited" and will have that ready in a few months. If you have suggestions for dances that should be included - email me here and let me know!
Do You Have Other Videos?
I am working on putting up the rest of the footage that came before the dance that is circulating the Internet. Check back with www.youtube.com in the future and see if it is up!
Are You Single?
Yes I am single, I am straight, and I will not marry anyone who asks over email. I feel I am worthy of a face-to-face proposal! Ha!
